Water Bore Drilling & Installation Perth

A new domestic water bore in Perth runs about A$3,000 to A$5,000 plus GST, drilled, cased, pumped and connected. What moves that figure is your ground — sand on the coastal plain, rock in the Hills — and how deep the watertable sits under your address.

  • Sand on the coastal plain, rock in the Hills — different rigs, different jobs, and the quote says which.
  • Published price bands from named Perth sources, so you can size the job before anyone visits.
  • Bore users are on the sprinkler roster too. We tell you the rules rather than selling around them.

Before you book

Four things worth knowing before anyone drills

  • Two different Perths, two different jobs. The northern and southern coastal plain is sand — a sediment job, drilled and gravel-packed. Kalamunda and Roleystone are laterite and granite, where the rig is a pneumatic hammer and progress is measured against rock rather than sand. A quote that does not say which one your block is has not looked at your block.
  • Depth is a property of your address, not a price list. Published Perth figures put total bore depth at about 12 metres in low-lying areas and over 80 metres at high points such as near the water tower in City Beach. That is a seven-fold spread across one metropolitan area, which is why depth is quoted per address and why the Perth groundwater map is worth checking before anyone quotes you.
  • A bore does not exempt you from the sprinkler roster. Garden bore users in Perth get two rostered days a week, set by the last digit of the house number, once a day before 9am or after 6pm — and no sprinklers at all from 1 June to 31 August. The fine is A$100. Anyone selling you a bore as a way around water restrictions is selling you something that is not true.
  • The pump is half the job and most of the callbacks. Drilling makes the hole; the submersible pump, the wire-up and the retic connection are what turn it into water on the lawn. Most of what goes wrong later is pump-side — lost prime, a failed capacitor, a motor that has burnt out — which is why repairs and pump work have their own page rather than a footnote.

How it runs

From enquiry to water on the lawn

  1. Tell us the address and the job. Suburb, block size, and whether you want a new bore, a repair, or a retic connection. The suburb decides the ground.
  2. A Perth bore contractor calls you. They ask what the map cannot tell them — access down the side, existing retic, where the bore head can sit.
  3. You get a quote against your ground. Sand or rock, estimated depth, pump size, and what the price does and does not include.
  4. Drill, install, connect. Published Perth timing is about a day to drill, case and develop the hole, and another day for the pump — about a week start to finish.

What water bore drilling costs in Perth

Water Bore Drilling & Installation Perth — typical price ranges (AUD, incl. GST)
JobWhat it coversTypical range
New bore, drilled and installed Borehole, casing and screen, submersible pump, gravel pack, wire-up and bore box. Plus GST. A$3,000–5,000
New bore — second published band A second Perth source quotes start-to-finish installation lower at the bottom end. GST not stated on that figure. A$2,500–5,000
Rebore, per metre of depth Drilling again — deeper, or in a new position — priced by the metre. Plus GST. A$85–85
Pump repriming The common no-water call-out when the pump has lost its prime rather than failed. A$130–130

Ranges reflect typical Perth jobs and vary with access, site conditions and scope. Every figure on this page is a published band from a named Perth source, not a quote for your job. The two sources disagree at the bottom of the drilling band — A$3,000 against A$2,500 — and only one of them states GST, so both are shown rather than averaged into a number neither source supports. Depth, ground type and access move the final figure more than anything else. A firm price comes from a site visit — call (08) 6311 4037 or use the quote form.

Water Bore Drilling & Installation across Perth

Perth is two drilling jobs wearing one city's name. From Joondalup and Wanneroo down through Canning Vale, the ground is pale free-draining sand over a shallow superficial aquifer, and a bore is a sediment job: drill, case, screen, gravel-pack, develop. East into Kalamunda and Roleystone the ground is lateritic clay and gravel over granite, the rig is a pneumatic hammer, and the water sits in fractures rather than in sand — which makes depth and yield far less predictable than a coastal-plain quote would suggest. Published Perth figures span roughly 12 metres in low-lying areas to over 80 metres at high points such as near the City Beach water tower, so an address is a better guide to depth than an average is.

Where we work

Suburbs we cover

We cover the Perth metropolitan area from the Joondalup and Wanneroo corridor in the north, south of the river through Canning Vale and Armadale, east into the Kalamunda and Roleystone hills, and the older brick-and-tile suburbs around Ballajura and Malaga. Those four are genuinely different drilling propositions rather than four names on a map, and each has its own page.
